Parental Tip #2

How to improve your child's drawing?

The answer: Look, look and look more

The most important factor is the ability to see. But not just seeing, you must observe. When you look really hard and concentrate on something, it helps to conceptualise thoughts and ideas. It is that simple but it is not easy. Just remember to enjoy the process of it.

Lines Make Shapes

Inspired by famous artist Piet Mondrian, I decided to show my class another side of art - Abstract Art. Some children get frustrated with themselves because they can't get their art right. Acknowledge and accept these feelings rather than telling them "it's ok" because it is not ok. Suggest to them that art comes in different form and their masterpiece can be considered as an abstract art.

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape.
