Seeing Straight Lines

Lines are everywhere. Lines are the basics for creating pictures and many more. Our little artists are experiencing the importance of lines and how simple lines create masterpieces. Here we are, creating art from one of my favourite snack. Pocky! This is to share with everyone out there that art is not only done on canvas or seen in books, it is everywhere. From the buildings. to the supermarkets, even in nature there's art. So keep your eyes wide open and take some time out to observe the things around us.

Quilling

Quilling or paper filigree is an art form that involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and glued together to create decorative designs. The paper is wound around a quill to create a basic coil shape. Here we have our little artists trying out quilling and creating cars, rockets and spiderman car. Big effort from them! Bravo!

Parental Tip #1

How to help your child keep their confidence and self-esteem?

A child with high self-esteem is a child who can trust others, and feels secure and accepted in their social circle. They have been taught to know their self-worth and can face challenging situations with a high confidence and better attitude. It will also keep them from allowing them to be bullied or threatened by others. Give your child some time to make good decisions for themselves. Don't rush to save them from frustrating situations. When the child makes a poor decision, explain the consequences of what they do. This way, they understand you are not mad, just that every action has a consequence. Good choices produce positive outcomes and negative choices produce bad outcomes.

Contemporary Art

Many of you must be wondering what is Contemporary Art? Contemporary art can be defined variously as art produced at this present point in time or art produced since World War II. The definition of the word contemporary would support the first view, but museums of contemporary art commonly define their collections as consisting of art produced since World War II. So, simple to say, every drawing your child has created, may it be just doodles or splatters of paint, it is Contemporary Art.

Cool Cool Colours

Finger Painting was plain awesome!! Everyone dived into the fun without any hesitation. Sensory activities provide children with another meaningful avenue for learning. Because children learn best by having "hands on" experiences with materials, sensory experiences are vital to young children's learning.

Dedicating to all the Mummies out there!

Super Mum

Mum, you're a wonderful mother,
So gentle, yet so strong.
The many ways you show you care
Always make me feel I belong.
You're patient when I'm foolish;
You give guidance when I ask;
It seems you can do most anything;
You're the master of every task.
You're a dependable source of comfort;
You're my cushion when I fall.
You help in times of trouble;
You support me whenever I call.
I love you more than you know;
You have my total respect.
If I had my choice of mothers,
You'd be the one I'd select!
